    Post-Cosmetic Surgery Care in Chicago

Provider-led evaluation and treatment for patients who may need suture removal, drain removal, or assessment of a possible seroma after cosmetic surgery. Whether your procedure was performed here in Chicago, in another state, or outside the country, you can be seen locally by a board-certified nurse practitioner who will evaluate your healing and coordinate with your operating surgeon.

    Urgent Postoperative Symptoms

Contact your surgeon or seek urgent or emergency medical care for chest pain, shortness of breath, uncontrolled bleeding, rapidly increasing swelling, wound separation, fever, severe or rapidly worsening pain, confusion, or other serious or rapidly worsening symptoms.

Do not submit urgent symptoms or emergency concerns through this website. This page is educational and is not a way to report symptoms.

    In-Office Procedure

See a seroma aspirationin the office.

A short clip from an in-office seroma aspiration. Sterile technique is used, the fluid is assessed as it is drawn out, and the findings are documented for your surgeon. Aspiration is offered only when an evaluation shows it is clinically appropriate for you.

    Who This Visit Is For

Local follow-up when your surgeon is not nearby.

    Sutures To Be Removed

    Drain Follow-Up

You have a surgical drain in place and need it assessed, and removed if it is appropriate.

    Possible Seroma

You have noticed soft swelling that shifts under the skin and would like it evaluated.

    Recovery Support

You are interested in manual lymphatic drainage and postoperative recovery support.

    Surgery Elsewhere

    What We Offer

    Treatments & Services

    Services Offered After an Evaluation

    Postoperative Evaluation

    Visit fee starting at $100

A focused visit reviewing your procedure, your surgeon's instructions, your healing progress, and your incisions. The evaluation determines whether any additional service is appropriate, and it may be the only thing that takes place at your first visit.

    Suture Removal When Clinically Appropriate

    Assessment required

Sutures are removed on your surgeon's timeline once the incision is examined and healing is judged to be sufficient. If the incision is not ready, we will explain why and coordinate a plan with your surgeon rather than proceed.

    Surgical Drain Assessment

    Assessment required

Your drain sites, drainage volume, character of the fluid, and healing are reviewed and documented so that you and your surgeon have a clear record of where you are in recovery.

Surgical Drain Removal When Clinically Appropriate

    Assessment required

A drain is removed only when the examination, your drainage record, and your surgeon's instructions together support removal. Please never remove a drain yourself.

    Seroma Aspiration

    $200 per session

Seroma aspiration is provided only when clinically appropriate following an evaluation. When aspiration is appropriate, it is performed in a clinical setting using sterile technique, with findings and volumes documented for your surgeon. Not every suspected seroma requires aspiration.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Recovery Support

    $150 per session

When your surgeon has cleared you and it is appropriate for your stage of healing, manual lymphatic drainage may help with swelling and comfort during recovery. Sessions are performed with knowledge of your procedure and your surgeon's instructions.

Care for Surgery Performed Locally, Out of State, or Abroad

    Records may be requested

Patients whose procedures were performed in Chicago, elsewhere in the United States, or outside the country may be evaluated here. Records and surgeon instructions may be requested so that your care stays coordinated.

Seroma aspiration is provided only when clinically appropriate following an evaluation. All postoperative services require an evaluation, and treatment is provided only when clinically appropriate. Scheduling an appointment does not guarantee that a procedure will be performed.

What to Expect and What It Costs

Post-cosmetic surgery visits start at $100. Every appointment has an associated visit fee, including appointments that result in evaluation only. Your first visit may consist of an evaluation alone, and that is a normal and appropriate outcome.

Treatment decisions depend on the examination, your healing progress, the type of surgery you had, your surgeon's instructions, the records available, and whether the service is clinically appropriate for you that day. Scheduling an appointment does not guarantee that sutures, drains, or fluid will be removed during the first visit.

Information You May Be Asked to Provide

Bringing the right information helps your visit go smoothly and helps us make a safe decision about your care.

    • Operative report
    • Surgeon's instructions
    • Date of your procedure and the type of procedure
    • Drain-output record, if you have a drain
    • Current medication list and allergy information
    • Your surgeon's contact information

Records and medical information must be provided directly to the office through our secure patient system, not through this public website. Please do not email or type medical details into any form on this site.

    Working Alongside Your Surgeon

Shaperz does not replace your operating surgeon. Your surgeon remains responsible for your surgical result and for the postoperative plan they created for you, and you should maintain communication with them throughout your recovery.

Shaperz may decline treatment or refer you back to your surgeon, or to urgent care, an emergency department, or another specialist, when that is the safest course. An appointment does not guarantee that treatment will be offered.

Information on this website is educational and does not establish a patient-provider relationship. Please do not attempt to remove sutures or drains, or to aspirate fluid, yourself.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have sutures removed if my surgery was performed somewhere else or outside the country?

Yes, patients whose procedures were performed locally, in another state, or internationally may be evaluated here. We may request your operative report and your surgeon's instructions so that removal is done on the right timeline. Scheduling an appointment does not guarantee that removal will be performed at that visit; the decision is made after the incision is examined.

    What information should I bring?

Please have your operative report, your surgeon's instructions, the date and type of your procedure, your current medication list, allergy information, your drain-output record if applicable, and your surgeon's contact information. Sensitive information should be provided directly to the office through our secure patient system rather than through this website.

When can a surgical drain be removed?

Timing depends on the type of procedure, your surgeon's instructions, the amount and character of the drainage, your healing progress, and the clinical examination. There is no universal number of days or drainage amount that applies to everyone. Please do not remove a drain yourself.

    What is a seroma?

A seroma is a collection of fluid that can develop under the skin after surgery. It is a recognized part of healing for some patients and it is evaluated in person, since swelling after surgery can have more than one cause.

    Does every seroma need aspiration?

No. Not every suspected seroma requires aspiration. Management depends on factors such as size, location, symptoms, healing progress, whether it has recurred, concerns about infection, and the clinical findings at your visit.

Can Shaperz replace my surgeon's postoperative care?

No. Shaperz may provide local evaluation and selected services, but it does not replace your operating surgeon or the follow-up plan your surgeon requires. Please continue to communicate with your surgeon throughout your recovery.

Will treatment be performed at the first appointment?

Not necessarily. The first visit may consist only of an evaluation. Treatment is provided only when it is clinically appropriate and when enough information about your surgery and healing is available. Visit fees start at $100, and every appointment has an associated fee, including evaluation-only visits.

How do I schedule an evaluation?

Book a post-procedure evaluation using the booking button on this page, or call (773) 658-5157. The phone line is for scheduling and general questions, not emergency care. For urgent symptoms, contact your surgeon or seek urgent or emergency medical care.
